Ventral hernia repair

Abdominal wall hernia repair - Tailored and safe surgery

An abdominal wall hernia is caused by a rupture in the abdominal wall where tissue from the abdominal cavity (fat, intestines) can protrude, e.g. epigastric hernia and scar hernia. Our specialists have extensive experience in advanced surgical techniques for all types of abdominal wall hernias. We offer a tailor-made surgery for permanent results and fast recovery.

What is abdominal wall hernia?

An abdominal wall hernia can occur due to a weakening of the abdominal wall (e.g. rectus diastasis), e.g. epigastric hernia or semilunar hernia; or as a result of a rupture after a previous operation, e.g. after a caesarean section, an appendectomy, a midline incision (laparotomy). Whatever the cause, an abdominal wall hernia can cause pain, impaired abdominal function and increase the risk of intestinal obstruction (ileus).

SYMPTOMS INCLUDE

Specialized evaluation and surgery for all types of abdominal wall hernias.

We focus on one thing – abdominal wall surgery – and we do it exceptionally well.

Primary Hernia / Incisional Hernia

The type of abdominal wall hernia determines the choice of surgical method:

  • Primary hernia: e.g., epigastric hernia, Spigelian hernia, age-related, or due to a weak abdominal wall.
  • Incisional hernia: occurs after previous surgery, often at or near a surgical scar.
  • Cesarean section hernia: a hernia following a C-section that may require specialized treatment.

Surgical Methods

We offer a tailored surgical repair technique:

Open surgery: with/without mesh. Surgery with local or general anesthesia.

Laparoscopic surgery: Minimally invasive, faster recovery.

Preoperative examination

Preoperative assessment for optimal planning of the surgery:

  • Physical examination: assessment of symptoms.
  • Ultrasound examination: mapping the anatomy.
